Abstract :
The problem of detecting a frequency-hopping waveform in strong broadband additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) is discussed. A key premise in the implementation of the detecting receiver is that of constrained complexity. As such, the use of the autocorrelation domain is proposed, and the performance of a decision algorithm is analyzed and compared to the energy discriminator (radiometer). The theory indicates the potential for impressive gains, a conclusion also supported by the simulation results provided.
