  • Abstract
Corporations consider software to be an investment. From the stand-point of an individual software developer, software is a personal creation and a challenge. From the viewpoint of a software maintenance engineer, software is a problem imposed by someone else. How can these different views be reconciled. We consider the role of re-engineering, restructuring and reverse engineering techniques in addressing the dual issues of intellectual ownership and technology obsolescence
