Abstract
The float voltage characteristic of valve regulated lead/acid (VRLA) batteries is considered to see if it may be used in the longer term operational service life of a battery to verify it´s condition. Monitoring systems are described that are capable of measuring and recording the basic data upon which the application of the characteristic may be assessed. Initial results are given from commissioned monitor systems, and the implications of the work to date are summarised
