Abstract
prETS 300253 is a draft European telecommunication standard (ETS) concerning the earthing and bonding of telecommunications equipment in telecommunication centres. Standardization is a very useful way of achieving a kind of uniformity in the installation practice of equipment. The economical benefit both for the operators as well as the equipment manufacturers is clear. These considerations are well worked out in the draft-Standard itself. This contribution aims at giving a overview on the backgrounds and the scope of this draft ETS and the relation it has with CCITT recommendation K.27
