Abstract :
We described a novel multimode waveguide interferometer based on a planar mirror configuration. In this paper we demonstrate an order of magnitude improvement in the displacement sensitivity of such an interferometer and illustrate excellent agreement with new analytical design theory. In our design the multimode waveguide interferometer was created from a pair of fully reflecting gold coated copper mirrors.
