Abstract
A telecom system block (TSB) library for use in ASIC design for synchronous optical network (SONET) applications is discussed. Telecom system blocks are predesigned circuits that implement significant telecom functions such as a SONET section overhead processor. SONET TSBs are designed to operate at data rates in excess of 50 Mb/s, as required by SONET applications. A design example, using SONET TSBs operating at a nominal clock rate of 77.76 MHz, is presented
