  • Abstract
    With the development of industry and agriculture in Huaian of Jiangsu Province, China, the demand of high quality groundwater becomes larger and larger in recent years. Many problems, such as subsidence and groundwater level decreasing, appear more frequently than before. It is essential to evaluate the groundwater resource which is as a major water supply in the region. In this paper, based on the analysis of the geological background, the hydrogeological conditions are investigated. According to this investigation, the status and the distribution of groundwater exploitation are comprehensively analyzed, as well as the characteristic and change of groundwater depression in Huaian. Finally, some control measures are suggested in this paper to prevent groundwater depression occurring.
