Abstract :
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is a common phenomenon that can have serious consequences for electronic systems. This paper introduces the physical processes that lead to electrostatic discharges occurring and describes the potential effects of such discharges. An overview is given of typical test methods and control measures for developing “ESD proof” products. ESD in vehicles is used as a case study to demonstrate the points raised
