Abstract
A metal composed electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structure is analyzed using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method by considering the time-domain Maxwell´s equations. For a two-dimensional metallic EBG structure of square lattices having orthogonal coordinate system, the band gap has been calculated. The desired pass band and unwanted stop bands have been observed for the successful operation (free from spurious mode of operation)of microwave devices.
