Abstract
A novel architecture for a large-scale fully interactive VOD system called DINA has been proposed. The performance of the interactive server in DINA is analyzed. The interactive server performance depends on (i) the speed-up-ratio of the merging stream which brings a client back to a multicast stream after interactive functions, (ii) time duration of user interaction, and (iii) stream interval between adjacent multicast streams. This paper studies the effect of different combination of these parameters on the system capacity. It is shown that the interactive server can be optimized with respect to different types of content and the user behavior at different regions, and that the system performance depends on these parameters in an interesting way
