Abstract :
The authors present an assessment of a novel optical pressure measurement system (OPMS). For this purpose experiments were carried out in a high-speed wind tunnel on a cropped delta wing model to demonstrate and assess this technique. Pressure distributions were measured separately as well as simultaneously with both the OPMS and a conventional technique via pressure taps for comparison. Temperature variations on the model surface were determined by means of an infrared camera and thermocouples to assess a possible error caused by temperature changes. Surface oil flow visualizations were performed to get additional information on boundary layer transition, separation, and reattachment lines as well as vortex positions
