Abstract
The theme of this paper is the work that is ongoing within the Scottish Vocational Education Council (SCOTVEC) and across the network of organisations with which SCOTVEC interacts to achieve a coherent and integrated framework of engineering qualifications. Some of the pieces of the jigsaw will not fall into place until the turn of the century, notably in two areas: one, in the implementation of `Higher Still: Opportunity For All´ to bridge the academic/vocational divide most prominently encountered in the post-16 curriculum, and the other in the completion of the framework of qualifications up to level V in the N/SVQ frameworks
