  • Abstract
    One of the biggest changes in network is the evolution to the network which converges voice and data. MGC(Media Gateway Controller) and MG(Media Gateway) do play a core roll in this converged network. While MG providing media translation and connection, MGC is responsible for call processing. To provide diverse services in the converged network, MGC should interoperate with legacy SS7 network with respect to signaling. A SG(Signaling Gateway) provides this signaling interworking service between legacy SCN network and packet network. SIGTRAN defines a suite of protocols and adaptation layers for transporting information over IP based networks, and SCTP is used for common signaling transport of SIGTRAN. For providing reliable services in the converged network, the connectivity between MGC and SG is of great significance. In this paper, we suggest auto-recovery method of SCTP Association between MGC and SG to make the network more reliable and??fault tolerant.
