Abstract
The New Engineering Council are able to look with better definition at future Professional Registration since becoming wholly representative of the Engineering Institutions. Many engineers think that their Registration title (Chartered, Incorporated, Eng. Technician) should contain statutory rights and almost monopoly job powers. These matters are being reviewed by the Senate of the Engineering Council and its committees, around a report by Sir David Davies in the period of unification. The author briefly discusses this and then gives the reasons why a new version of SARTOR is needed and the main issues it contains
