Abstract :
The aim of this presentation is to point to the possible origins of thermoelectric currents and to calculate the current distribution in different materials as iron and aluminium on the base of an analytical solution of the problem. As the current distribution is known, the resulting Lorentz force for a static magnetic field is discussed with respect to the observed alterations of the weld pool shape. Iron and aluminum are chosen as welding materials since the temperature dependence of the relevant material data, Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity, are known and show significant differences
