Abstract :
We address the problem of estimating the frequency-wavenumber parameters of multiple 2-D sinusoids under coherent situations. Similar to a recent method proposed by Li et al. (see IEEE Trans. CAS, CAS-38, p.800, 1991) an enhanced state-space method is proposed to decompose the problem into two 1-D estimation problems and thus get rid of the costly 2-D searching needed by those conventional 2-D spectral estimation methods, such as 2-D periodogram and AR methods. Furthermore, the state-space formulation enables us to exploit the inherent structure of the data such as to combat the difficulty caused by coherent signals. The simulation results show that while the Li method completely fails under the coherent case, our approach can still perform well
