Abstract :
Distributed scientific and engineering applications often require access to large amounts of data. Access to distributed data is typically as important as access to distributed computational resources. One of major components in grid middlewares is the replica management that creates replicas of a data, determines their location, and selects them for retrieval. We propose Optimal File Replication Scheme (CO-RLS) based on user´s cost and deadline requirements. Our proposed CO-RLS minimizes the total replication costs under the two constraints. One is replication cost that is storage cost at remote sites and the other is transfer time from data source to multiple candidate sites. We expect our proposed scheme can be used to enhance the performance of data grids middlewares.
