Abstract :
In this paper a novel generalization of boost-type Power-Factor-Correction (PFC) topologies with multiple switching cells is proposed. It is based on parallel connection of two or more series PFC topologies by means of one or more coupled-inductors. Using the minimum number of active power devices as optimization criterion and Stacked-Flying-Capacitors (SFC) multilevel principle, the series PFC topologies are also generalized for more than five voltage levels. The operation mode of the proposed generalization is verified by numerical simulations both for 7L-series PFC and 9L-series-parallel PFC three-phase topologies.
