Abstract :
The authors report on the results of an analysis of the wavelet transform and its use as a tool for image enhancement and filtering in knowledge-based systems. They review the concept of the wavelet transform. A convolution theorem for the wavelet transform and a filter model are described, which uses a wavelet orthonormal basis set. This model is compared to the linear filter model for image enhancement and filtering. The wavelet filter is applied to a set of degraded sample imagery.
