Abstract :
Herein, an ECG compression scheme is proposed, which is based on the wavelet footprint representation of ECG signals [Ho Tatt Wei and Varun Jeoti, July 2004] in combination with some signal preprocessing, linear quantization and Huffman coding. Experiments conducted on selected records of the MTT-BlH Arrythmia database indicate that compression ratios of about 10x are achievable with average PRD of 0.8450%.
