Abstract :
New approximations are given for the distortion spectrum of signals with high peak-to-average-power ratios undergoing non-linear amplification. These formulae are derived in a mathematically sound way from the assumption of Gaussian amplitude distribution. They are particularly useful for early concept considerations of modern wireless transceivers, for example, OFDM or WCDMA where the traditional single-or duo-tone characterization of nonlinearities fails. Comparisons with measurements of a WiMedia UWB power amplifier show excellent agreement.
