  • Abstract
Municipal infrastructure industry includes numerous sub-industries, which manages massive multi-source spatial data and non-spatial data. Metadata provide guarantee for efficient data management. Traditional metadata system developed on single dataset level has difficulty in meeting the demand for municipal infrastructure comprehensive management. Therefore, this paper proposes a method which produces database-metadata, dataset-metadata, entity-metadata and domain-metadata separately, and they compose the municipal infrastructure metadata system. Furthermore, based on the design of hierarchical metadata system a municipal infrastructure metadata standard is introduced. The design of the metadata system and the metadata standard may effectively improve facility management, and meet the demand of data sharing and interoperability for municipal infrastructure industry.
