Abstract
In this paper a new analysis tool for multirate systems is presented which allows an exact description of deterministic signals being distorted by aliasing and of stationary or cycle-stationary stochastic signals in multirate systems. This method utilizes a matrix calculus based on the modulation vectors of the involved signals. Two examples are given, namely a cascade of multirate filters and a digital subscriber line audio-processing circuit (SLAC), which demonstrate the essential performance characteristics of the proposed analysis method: separation of baseband and alias components, separation of stationary and non-stationary parts of signals and the resolution of all these components in the time- and frequency domain
