Abstract
Flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) are nowadays installed in mechanical industries, especially in car making industries. However, the market constraints impose to improve both the production system and the whole production organization. In this paper, we show how a computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) architecture can be decomposed along two main axes: the production management aspect (from the customer order to the bill) and the logistics (from the supply to the distribution). We show how to integrate operations research methods in this CIM architecture
