Abstract :
This paper presents a thermal network model for fluid immersed BLDC motors in aerospace applications. A thorough investigation of the motor losses has been carried out. The thermal network model was built by taking the losses as the heat source. Based on this model, the simulations of a 12 kW brushless DC motor under different load conditions and duty cycles were carried out using MATLAB. The final results will be compared with the simulation results from commercial software Motor CAD to verify the model.
