Abstract
Since resident trip investigation is significant for transport planning and there are so many cities with various degree of development, it is extremely important to put forward a scientific sampling method according to different local financial situations. Utilizing the sampling techniques and the optimization theory, this article developed through error analysis an optimum sampling model of OD survey which aims at the highest survey precision and is restricted to the expenditure. Meanwhile, by analyzing the feasibility of the model, the article establishes the theory basis for selecting sampling rate of the OD survey. It is strongly recommended that sampling method proposed by this article adopted in small and medium sized cities.
