Abstract :
Multi-phase motors are widely applied in marine drives. This paper proposes a fault-tolerant operation method for a 15-phase induction machine (15PIM). Simulation model of a 15PIM and its vector control system is established in Matlab/Simulink. Performance of 15PIM under one phase open circuit fault is studied. Then, a control method which can reduce the electromagnetic torque ripple is proposed. Simulation results demonstrate the validity and efficiency of the proposed fault-tolerant control method.
