  • Abstract
The authors present a novel scheme, based on a generalized maximum likelihood ratio theory and the Wigner bispectrum, for the adaptive detection of transient signals in low SNR (signal-to-noise ratio). They review the definition of Wigner high-order spectra (WHOS), compare the moment-oriented definition of WHOS with a cumulant-based definition, and apply the Wigner bispectrum (a particular case of WHOS for order k =2) in the problem of transient signal detection. Reduced interference higher-order distributions are introduced
