Abstract
It has proved to be difficult to apply model based diagnosis methods to process industry because of high development and maintenance efforts and real time requirements (Al applications). Hierarchical structure is one way to make model based systems easier to apply by decomposing the system into small and simple submodels. This paper presents the research work made about the hierarchical fault systems in the Control Engineering Laboratory of Tampere University of Technology (TUT)
