Abstract
The electricity production field is undergoing a significant change because of both the liberalization of the sector and the policies to support renewable energy sources (RES) and those assimilated to them; in particular, among the latter, the cogeneration technology for civil applications, able to improve the overall energy efficiency, is taken into account in this paper. The electrical generation associated to cogeneration is typically connected to low voltage networks, making them active networks. The aim of this work is to assess the impact of 30 kW cogeneration modules on a typical distribution network of an area with highly populated. In particular, the analysis is focused on power flows, real power losses and rapid voltage variations.
