Abstract
This paper reports a high-frequency AC drive fed by VF-input one-stage AC-AC converter with a compact design. The converter/drive is capable of operating a wide range of input frequencies, 360 - 720 Hz, with desirable power quality control, resulting low input line harmonics and high total power factor. The modular phase bank design for power circuit obtains desirable high power density. Digital control implementation is based on a low-cost 32-bit DSP. Extensive experimental tests and evaluations are conducted and reported confirming desirable operating and interfacing characteristics at both input and output side, including line harmonics and EMI characteristics.
