Abstract
A high-quality speech coder at 600 b/s is described. This coder utilizes postprocessing techniques to compress the speech parameters from LPC-10 analysis. It is direct extension of a 400-b/s speech coder in which the interpolation is removed. An improved gain coder and spectrum coder were developed. These are the key elements to generate higher intelligibility. A three-speaker diagnostic rhyme test score of 86.3 has been achieved
