Abstract :
The progress of the information society strongly depends on InP technologies, and the evolution of the infrastructure supporting such a society is promoted by new concepts in device technologies, such as new types of laser diodes, photodiodes, and optical semiconductor modulators. The recent quick progress of optical access networks also depends on InP technologies, and their construction is greatly accelerated by technologies that improve device performance and lower device cost. This paper reviews such InP-based opto-electronics technologies for optical access networks
