Abstract :
Shear wave (S-wave) velocity profile inversion using Rayleigh waves is studied. At first, the relation of all modes, especially in case of low-velocity layer, to medium structure is investigated. Then, the inverse problem is studied based on the first and higher modes. It adopted the genetic algorithm (GA) to conduct this paper since this problem is highly nonlinear. It is found that GA is good for inverse problem of Rayleigh wave. The influence of some parameters is analyzed and satisfied result obtained.
