Abstract :
It is pointed out that the 88110 Symmetric Superscalar microprocessor is an excellent high-performance microprocessor for general-purpose processing engines. However, several challenges must be met to provide an acceptable blend of flexibility, functionality, and performance. These challenges are evaluated as they apply to a general purpose VME processing engine.<>
