Abstract
Using the uniform geometrical theory of diffraction the three-dimensional problem of a radiating vibrator with an ideally conducting rectangular plane screen and microstrip antennas is solved. Fast algorithms and programs for calculating and analyzing the normalized amplitude directive patterns in different observation planes, and the dependence of the back-lobe levels on the ratio of the screen sides for any given length of the screen and distance between the vibrator are presented. Approximation expressions are obtained, indicating the dependences of the optimum ratios of the screen sides, providing a minimum of lateral and back radiations of the investigated antennas, depending on the length of the screen
