Abstract
The demand for higher bandwidth and power efficiencies in digital communication makes multidimensional modulation schemes increasingly attractive. The authors introduce one such scheme, called 8D-4P2C (8 dimensions, 4 pulses, and 2 carriers). This scheme has a compact spectrum and is easily implementable. Moreover, it is amenable to a simplified detection scheme with a marginal loss of efficiency with respect to optimum demodulation. Its performance, determined by computer simulation, proves its attractiveness for digital radio systems
