Abstract
In UMTS systems, transport format combination indicator (TFCI) is coded by Reed Muller coding. In this paper, we analyze the performance of the TFCI coding in the Rayleigh fading channel using upper bound technique. The performance of TFCI decoding is upper-bounded by the error probability of the D-th order maximum ratio combining (MRC) where D is the Hamming distance of codeword. The bound becomes tighter as mobile speed increases. In high SNR, the difference between analysis and simulation result is significantly reduced.
