Abstract :
The idea of open distributed processing (ODP) as an extension of Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) is an attempt to model the development of integrated distributed environments. A generalization of the OSI Directory name structure is suggested for ODP trading. The trader itself is an object which administers services offered by objects in a system. A configuration of more than one trader is called a federation. The authors present an approach for an ODP trader federation using X.500 (92) service. They describe the architecture and specify some parts formally
