Abstract
The authors describe novel transmitter technologies that not only increase the maximum permissible launch power but also create uniform distributions within rooms. They consider optical safety for wireless systems, proposed changes to the safety standards, and new forms of transmitter technology which allow the safe distribution of relatively large amounts of optical power. These include holograms which convert a laser point source into a large area source and an optical leaky feeder for ubiquitous deployment to different office environments
