Abstract :
The authors attempt to explain how system engineering concepts and methods can substantially support the formulation of cost-effective CIG (computer-image generation) database job aids. They describe a design process that should lead to a system design for a CIG database job aid specifically oriented toward quickening CIG database turnaround time. They have found three elements within the framework of system engineering that are particularly appropriate: performance-cost analysis, design analysis, and operational sequence diagramming. It is noted that only when candidate job systems are examined from each of these points of view can the system designer be assured that a near-optimum system can be realized
