Abstract :
Preliminary studies are required in order to use microwaves as support of information transmission inside buildings because of the problems of multipath propagation. Simulations based on the uniform theory of diffraction (UTD) are presented. The first example concerns diffraction phenomena due to an elementary wedge formed by two walls. A comparison between experience and theory shows that propagation outside the building is well described. The same numerical theory is employed to characterize propagation inside the building, or more exactly, to predict the mean variation of the field amplitude when a receiver moves inside the building. Results of numerical simulations which are made on an abrupt bend of a corridor allow evaluation of coupling losses between the two parts of this corridor
