Abstract :
An architecture for the production of applications for the TMN (telecommunications management network) is described. The concept of model based management, described in the RACE Project-ADVANCE, suggests that a network should be managed by manipulating a model of that network. This concept is developed through a number of stages, resulting in an architecture for TMN applications. The application architecture is described in terms of information models. It is shown how this application architecture is mapped on to the concepts described in CCITT TMN M.3010 (draft recommendation) and the human machine interface (HMI) reference model described in CCITT Z.352 (draft recommendation). The advantages of the architecture in terms of TMN evolution and the opportunities for interoperability between management systems are shown
