Abstract :
In resent times biomass fuels have become more popular and are often mixed with coal in the interests of sustainable energy. These materials present wildly varying size and shape properties that may affect combustion efficiency. This paper presents the results of an investigation into the usefulness of the existing size measurement instrument, developed by the authors, for on-line biomass measurement. Good results are achieved and direct comparisons are made between results recorded with the present system and those from accepted off-line solutions, highlighting the importance of on-line measurement in this field.
