Abstract :
The RAC (Royal Automobile Club) in the UK, after initial reservations based upon members´ healthy mistrust of computer technology, has consistently supported the use of remote cameras specifically to reduce traffic accidents and casualties by enforcing traffic regulations. Used in this mode the RAC believe that camera technology will retain the public support so essential to its continued success, delivering benefits to offset the considerable police operating costs by reducing fatal and serious accidents and their consequent demand upon police resources
