Abstract :
This paper describes a low-power YUV to RGB color converter for use in portable video applications. The low-complexity architecture requires only fixed shift and adds to perform color conversion, eliminating the need for multiplication while maintaining image quality. The resulting images are visually indistinguishable from the originals based on both a vision perception distortion measure and human rankings. Measured performance shows that the color converter consumes less than 2.1 mW at 25 MHz with a 1.5 V power supply in 0.8 μ CMOS technology
