  • Abstract
This paper extends the TOPSIS framework of multi-attribute individual decision-making to group decision-making situations by introducing the concepts of group positive-ideal and group negative-ideal solutions. In our method, a relative-closeness to the group positive-ideal solution is defined to determine the ranking order of all alternatives by calculating the distances to both the group positive-ideal and group negative-ideal solutions simultaneously. The solving procedure of the method is developed, and finally a numerical example is shown to demonstrate its application. The proposed method can produce a clear preference order of a set of alternatives, and even evade the difficulty of group utility aggregation.
