Abstract
In order to study the removal effect of non-thermal plasma (NTP) after-treatment system on diesel engine harmful emissions, a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma reactor is designed, and the NOx removal effect is studied. The results show that reduce the initial concentration of NO, increase the residual time and decrease the gas flow rate would get a high NO removal efficiency. NO reduction is very low and energy consumption is very high in NO/ N2 mixture gases, however, when C3H6 was added, NO conversion rate significantly increased. When a used DPF fix after NTP reactor, NO would react with active particles to produce plentiful NO2 and these NO2 reacted with C to form CO2 completely. The results of this experiment can be used in similar professional fields such as NTP reactor combined with DPF to reduce diesel engine emissions.
