Abstract
A novel design and implementation of programmed PWM inverters to eliminate selected harmonics are presented in this paper. Switching patterns without low-order harmonics can be obtained by numerical techniques. Equal-area switching angles as initial values in numerical computation can guarantee the convergence of solving nonlinear equations. A well-designed circuit to generate switching patterns for programmed PWM inverters without microprocessor is very suitable for low-cost and high-performance inverter application. The experimental results are presented to demonstrate that the selected low-order harmonics are eliminated and the proposed PWM inverter can be overmodulated
