Abstract
Theoretical and experimental investigations were performed of angular, spectral, areal, wave and wind dependences of radar backscatter from the sea surface. It is shown, that the mean and the variance of the averaged resolution cell reflected signal FDS should be successfully used for estimation of surface waves. Comparison of theoretical estimation results with experimental data shows satisfactory agreement.
